Full-Scale “Final Fantasy” Heading to Western Phones this Summer!

This summer, fans of the Final Fantasy franchise should look forward to Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, a brand-new Final Fantasy mobile experience that will launch for free (with optional in-app purchases) on both iOS and Android. The title has drawn in more than six million fans already in Japan, bringing them in with a fun story and lore drawn from the wider universe.

According to a recent Square-Enix press release, “Adventurers will follow two knights of the kingdom of Grandshelt, and a young girl who suddenly appears before them, as they begin their quest to pursue a highly sought after crystal. Players will make their way through various types of dungeons to search for items, collect gil, uncover hidden paths, and venture new routes.”

In addition to high-quality CG sequences and fun turn-based combat, players can look forward to cameo appearances by series favorites like Terra (FF6), Cecil (FF4), and Vivi (FF9), among others.

Here’s the official story:

Visions――
The hopes and dreams of
legendary warriors given life.
Lapis――
A world of crystals and the visions
that slumber within.
Harnessing the power of the crystals,
mankind prospered, nations flourished.
But just as day gives way to night,
that era of peace proved but a fleeting illusion.
Now, as their world stands on the precipice
of ruin, two young knights summon visions
to their side as they strike out on a journey
to chase the shadows.
So begins a new tale of crystals,
and the heroes who would save them…
The game is set to release sometime over the summer, but expect to hear more after E3 this June!
