The Buttonsmashers Game of the Year 2016

It’s about that time of the year again. That time when we celebrate the games that monopolized hours upon hours of our time, while giving us some of the best experiences possible via the Video Game medium this year. During 2016 we The Buttonsmashers Editorial team achieved so much more that we could have ever imagined thanks to those of you that have continued to support us. We got the opportunity to attend numerous amazing events as well as play, and reviewed more games than we’ve done during previous years.

This year featured so many great titles from so many amazing publishers/ developers that it was quite a task for us to narrow down our lists to just one each, so we’ve taken the liberty of picking the best of the best of 2016 for you. Each editor has chosen their individual top 5 games, and at the end we have the overall game of the year winner.

Here are the top 5 choices from The Buttonsmashers Editors

GAME OF THE YEAR: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Year after Year the guys at Naughty Dog have managed to raise the already high bar they set for what is expected from their Uncharted franchise, and by relations every other action adventure game. It’s impossible to pick just one aspect of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End that shines the most, because to put it simply, they all shine just as brilliantly as each other. The voice acting is of the highest quality, the graphics are awe-inspiring in a photo-realistic kind of way, the gameplay is a perfect mix of action and adventure, and every scene is perfectly scripted. Literally every thing about this game is of a ridiculously high quality, right down to each charming smirk on Nathan Drakes perfect face. We’ll even go so far as to say that this game is the single most important reason to have a PlayStation 4 in 2016.

We hope you enjoyed our Video Game coverage throughout 2016, and we hope to have you with us during 2017 as well.
