Confusion Over PES 2021 J-League License

eFootball PES 2021 is due to release for the PC, Xbox One and PS4 next week however there are still a lot of unanswered questions about the game. One of the most noticeable concerns an image of two J-League teams competing in the game.

EA currently hold the license for the Japanese top football leagues so seeing an image of two J-League teams on the official PES 2021 steam page lead most to assume that Konami had regained rights to the League on PC/ Consoles. Despite having the license for it on the mobile version of PES they’ve not held the PC/ console license since PES 2014.

Unfortunately for those hoping that would change with PES 2021, it won’t. After reaching out to the Publisher it was confirmed that the J-League will only be available in PES mobile again this year with no confirmation on the other versions.

The confusion seems to be a result of including marketing material for the mobile version on Steam. Hopefully the publisher will remove it to alleviate any concerns.

eFootball PES 2021 will release on September 15th 2020 for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One for $30 MSRP.
