According to Crunchyroll, Idris Elba was delighted when the streaming platform turned him and wife Sabrina into anime characters after hearing that they binged on the series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations while they were self-isolating with Covid-19. Crunchyroll commissioned artist Zzyzzyy to create the image.
This week, the picture appears as part of a Celebrity Fan Exhibit at the Virtual Crunchyroll Expo – the biggest anime event of the year!
The British star is best known for his roles in Luther, Thor along with the more recent Hobbs and Shaw. He’s usually portrayed as a cool calm alpha male in films that it’s actually a bit of a shock that Idris Elba is into anime. Here’s hoping someone close to him points out that Boruto is dumpster fire and that he should be watching One Piece or the original Naruto series instead.
Crunchyroll is part of WarnerMedia Entertainment and offers 30,000 anime episodes for streaming with both free and paid for (ad free) viewing options.
Virtual Crunchryoll Expo takes place from September 4th – 6th 2020. You can register HERE for free. Click HERE for the full schedule of events.
